Meet Michelle, the author of the Literary Gene.

“I started out just reading a lot when my mom would take us (myself and my three brothers) to the library as children. She would let us take out the maximum number of books at a time, which was about 10 books. I would blow through them so quickly, and then bug my mom to take us back to the library to exchange them. She never complained about repeat trips to the library, so that went on until eventually in high school, I got a job at the local library, shelving books. I could get lost in reading book covers for hours while shelving, and my TBR (to-be-read) stacks just kept getting bigger and bigger.

I didn’t start really writing until after I got married and had children, and it was a way to put all of my thoughts on paper. I love paper…and all kinds of writing implements. I have a fountain pen collection, and try to always write in cursive. I eventually discovered that I am more likely to categorize and keep my writings if I do it digitally, which is how The Literary Gene was born. Many of the writings came about because of writer’s prompts, but recently I’ve discovered that social media posts come with so much distraction, and I like this quiet, ad-free space to express myself, and my goal is to create a personal connection with each reader who visits me here.”
